Process
At Pools of Longview, we take pride in transforming your backyard into a stunning oasis. From concept to completion, our meticulous attention to detail ensures that your pool is built to the highest standards. Here’s a step-by-step guide to our pool-building process, showcasing the craftsmanship and care that goes into every project.
Gunite Pool Process
Initial Consultation & 3D Design
The journey begins with a consultation with one of our expert designers. We work closely with you to understand your vision and create a 3D rendering of your dream pool. Our goal is to design a pool that perfectly suits your family's needs and complements your outdoor space.
Permitting & Site Preparation
Once the design is finalized and permits are obtained, our construction superintendent will meet with you to discuss the next steps. The site is then prepared by stripping the existing sod and clearing the area, making it ready for construction.
Layout and Excavation
With the site prepped, our team stakes out the pool’s shape, marking the exact layout. The excavation process begins with a backhoe, expertly operated to shape the pool’s contours. Excess soil is hauled away, leaving a precisely carved space for your new pool.
Plumbing & Steel Installation
After the site has been excavated, the plumbing installation begins, with pipes carefully laid out to ensure proper water flow and circulation. Next, the steel rebar is positioned, meticulously shaped to outline the pool's structure, providing the necessary support for the gunite. This network of plumbing and steel is secured in place, creating a strong foundation for the pool's final form.
Gunite Application
Once the steel framework passes inspection, the gunite is applied. This durable material is sprayed onto the steel and hand-carved into the final shape of your pool, providing a strong and lasting foundation.
Rough Grading & Plumbing
After the gunite cures, the forms are removed, and the site is rough-graded. Additional plumbing is installed around the pool, connecting it to all necessary equipment. This stage sets the stage for the finishing touches.
Tile & Coping Installation
With the plumbing complete, we install the waterline tile around the pool’s interior perimeter and we install coping on the top perimeter of the bond beam. The addition of these functional and decorative elements add function and style to your beautifully crafted pool.
Deck Construction
Next, the pool deck is formed and poured. Concrete is poured to create a seamless edge between the deck and the pool coping. Our concrete experts then finish the deck with a light broom finish, providing a durable and attractive surface for you to enjoy. Optional Decking options include: Exposed Aggregate, Salt Finish, Spray Deck, Stain, Travertine/Flagstone Pavers
Final Grading & Interior Install
With the pool deck completed, pool plaster is applied to the interior shell of the pool. As the final step in the pool construction process, the pool interior is sprayed with a wet plaster mix, and hand-troweled smooth. Once the plasterers apply the finishing touches, we start filling the pool with water immediately.
Pool Start-Up
With the pool filled, our service technician starts up the equipment, balances the chemicals, and ensures everything is operating perfectly. Now, your dream pool is ready for you to enjoy!
Fiberglass Pool Process
Permits and Planning
Secure necessary building permits and create a layout to mark the pool location, ensuring proper utility checks and site access.
Excavation
An excavator digs the hole based on a specific "dig sheet" to match the shell's dimensions, allowing extra room for plumbing.
Gravel Base Preparation
A bed of crushed, angular stone is laid and compacted at the bottom of the hole, then leveled using lasers to provide a stable, precise foundation.
Pool Delivery and Placement
The pool shell is delivered and lowered into the hole by a crane, followed by leveling the pool to ensure it sits properly.
Plumbing and Equipment Setup
Plumbing, including returns, skimmers, and drains, is installed, often before or immediately after placing the shell, to ensure accessibility. In most cases, a sump pipe is installed to monitor groundwater.
Backfilling and Filling
Water is added to the pool while concurrently backfilling the void around the shell with gravel to maintain pressure equilibrium and prevent movement.
Concrete Bond Beam and Coping
A concrete "locking collar" or bond beam is poured around the top perimeter of the pool for structural stability and to prepare for the final deck surface.
Finished Decking and Cleanup
The final concrete, paver, or stone decking (coping) is installed around the pool, followed by final site cleanup.
